So today, I thought it would be appropriate to start talking about the reason we are here in Milwaukee. My position was relocated from Denver to MKE a few months ago and I put off the actual move for as long as I could. I'm usually excited to start new adventures but for some reason this one's been a little harder. I was actually pretty excited about it until I got pregnant because family seems much further away when you don't get to share your kids' lives with everyone. Thinking about having two kids and being very far from home just seemed less appealing once I actually thought through it. However, I have a very good job. I've been incredibly lucky to keep it and it was too difficult to give up, which obviously brings us to where we are today!
Well a big plus to the move is that I now get my own office.
Pretty nice huh? It's a little boring at the moment but I do have a nice little view of the Harley Davidson factory. I think it will be pretty in the spring with all the trees. I'll have to post a new picture when it's nice out. I also get a super sweet computer setup!
That's a 30 inch monitor! And soon it will even be color accurate, which means when I have to look at art online, it will be the right color! The great part about that is hopefully it means I won't be required to travel much since I can approve art from my desk! Ok, I'll stop being a geek now - for the most part.
One thing that's been very weird for me here so far is the people. The folks on my team are nice but outside of that, I don't get many smiles walking down the hall. In Colorado, maybe it's just me, but it seems like everywhere you go you at least get a smile or a nod when you walk by. Here, I may as well be invisible! It's weird. I even came right out and said hi to someone I knew from traveling out here previously and she flat out ignored me! And that, unfortunately, was on my first day here! Even if she didn't remember me, you'd think I'd at least get a courtesy smile. Oh well. I've decided to become annoyingly nice instead of letting them bring me down. I make it a point to say good morning to everyone once I get here. Maybe some of it will rub off. There are a few people that seem to be warming up so I'll have to keep you updated on people's attitudes! Another odd thing is that it's really nice to have an office, but it definitely secludes you. I may not see or hear from any of my co-workers all day. I'm just not used to that. Before, it was easy to see people and say hi and hear about the happenings in their lives. Maybe that's just a personal thing right now. Maybe once people start accepting me and getting to know me, they'll come around more often.
Ok, well, I think that's enough random thoughts for the day. I'll write more tomorrow!
Positive Milwaukee Note: Living downtown means I can get to work in about 8 minutes and only have to use 2 streets to get there!

At least you get pretty red chairs! I am sure people will start warming up to you, how can they not?! Good job at killing them with niceness!
