Ok, I know I've been really bad about keeping up with these blogs lately but I had to travel again and I always think I'll have time to get online for a bit but then haven't been able to! I went to Arkansas this week for a quick two day trip and had a bit of good and bad luck. So today I'll tell you about my little roller coaster these last few days have been.
So, you aren't going to believe this but as of right now, we are under contract on the house in the previous blog! Here's how it happened. We went house hunting again on Tuesday and saw a few more boring houses. Our realtor decided to bring up the Aurora house (which is what I will be calling it from here on out because it happens to be on Aurora St., which makes it feel like a little piece of Colorado). She was asking us why we didn't want to counter the seller's rejection when if we went up to her price, it would only cost us about $50 more per month. We let her know that in the end, we weren't happy with having to bring so much money to closing. We feel that we are giving a good offer because she didn't have to contribute anything, she just needed to go down on her price a bit. Well she told us there may be another option to go up in price but ask for the seller to give us a credit towards the closing cost. So that is what we decided to try. In the end, we get to keep our savings in tact and also give the seller the price she wants. Well, she reluctantly took the offer. It makes me a little uneasy that she wasn't happy about selling the house to us, especially after we had the seller of our house in Denver give us her blessing to buy the house. It just made it feel so much better to know that she wanted us in the house. But I can't worry about this seller and how she feels about us being in the Aurora house. The bottom line for her is that she put too much money into renovating the house in a market that won't bring her the return! And, honestly, that's too bad that she is having to sell it in a crappy market.
Anyway, that is the good news, we are under contract! Then comes the worry. We are not sure if we are going to be able to get the financing to go through. We got our W2's and unfortunately, they are a little too honest. MH's forms show that he is on severance, which obviously won't fly with the employment check. Since MH's new job is technically self-employment, there is no way show what he may be making. So that means we have to qualify with what I make and we are SO close to doing that. We are waiting for another W2 of mine to come in to show the income I received over my regular income this year. That will solve the problem for us, we just aren't positive that that form is coming! We both know it SHOULD but if it doesn't come in time, it may as well never come! So we are just trying to be patient. I also know that if this isn't supposed to happen, it isn't going to. I just have a hard time being patient enough!
So that all happened yesterday during my 8 hour travel day. When I finally arrived back in MKE, it was FREEZING and my car wouldn't start. That's where the bad luck came into play. I was exhausted from walking my pregnant self around airports all day and then once I got to my car I had to turn around and keep on walking. I had to take a cab back to the apartment and the cab drivers in MKE hate it when they have to take someone using a credit card. I got in the cab and the driver was very obviously upset that he was going to have to take me. I decided to ask him what the big deal was. He was nice enough about it but basically told me that they lose a percentage of the money when they use credit cards and they don't get their money for 2 weeks or so. I told him that if he would take more credit cards, he would probably get more business since most people cabbing from the airport are probably using corporate cards. He didn't have a comment for that. But oh well, I made it home safe and sound, had myself a little frustration cry for all of the happenings of the day and went to bed.
As of today, we don't have any new news on the financing thing but hopefully we will see the second W2 in the mail tomorrow! While I was in Arkansas, I bought the movie Whip It and I'm excited to go watch it so that's going to be the extent of my evening! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and I look forward to telling you all good news on Monday! OH, and I just wanted to thank you all for your positive feedback and encouragement. As you all know, I might need it a little more now than usual so it's so great to know you are all still here for me even being this far away.
Positive Milwaukee Note: Ok, this isn't exactly going to be a positive note but it isn't negative either. It's more of a little tidbit of information for you in case you are ever in the area. My little piece of advice is: do not eat a mint before heading outdoors. It feels like your throat is going to freeze! Unless you like living on the edge of course. :-)
